IGEL thin clients and Imprivata OneSign ProveID Embedded: Secure access to healthcare applications
Thanks Imprivata's new authentication software, customers can optimize the range of applications of their virtual desktop environments continue. IGEL Technology inter reacts OneSign ProveID embedded directly into their own thin client firmware.
Bremen, 29 August 2013 - thin clients, IGEL Technology, the German market leader support future security solution from Imprivata OneSign ProveID embedded. The software provides users with reliable healthcare clinical authentication with No Click Access within virtual desktop infrastructures (VDI). Since the software solution is integrated directly into the firmware of the thin clients, Imprivata OneSign ProveID allows powerful user authentication pre-installed for quick and secure access to critical patient information and clinical applications. First OneSign ProveID for embedded system-on-a-Chip thin client IGEL UD2 LX MultiMedia is available. For the future, the integration is planned for x86-based devices from IGEL portfolio.
ProveID OneSign from Imprivata embedded jointly developed with Texas Instruments to implement strong authentication functionality of Imprivata OneSign directly to thin or zero clients. Users in hospitals thus benefit from an out-of-the-box solution, with the fast, safe access is provided to applications and information, regardless of location. Rather than by manually entering passwords, the user logs per badge or fingerprint on the virtual desktop. This Imprivata OneSign ProveID embedded sustainably improve workflow and gives the staff more time for patients.
The establishment of OneSign ProveID embedded comfortably designed. Within each environment, the software checks whether a Imprivata OneSign infrastructure is available and downloads the necessary current to operate Imprivata agent. In addition, all agents on terminal side are detected automatically updated and installed without the need for an IT administrator or a reboot the thin client is necessary. Thus, cost and maintenance requirements are minimized and the virtual desktop environment optimized.
"IGEL thin clients have always distinguished themselves by an open and flexible Architecture, which allows the customer to extract the smooth integration of detail solutions and applications to the best of its virtual desktop infrastructure, "commented Matthias Haas, Product Manager at IGEL Technology. "The integration of Imprivata OneSign ProveID embedded in the IGEL firmware fits seamlessly into this concept."
"Powerful authentication causes especially in the health sector significantly improve the virtual desktop environment, because the employees have quick and seamless access to all relevant information - no matter which workstation they are," said David Ting, Founder and CTO of Imprivata . "Imprivata OneSign ProveID Embedded brings these benefits directly now on IGEL thin clients that have a pre-installed by the user authentication directly on board. Access to virtual desktops is further simplified, while the HIPAA compliance and security requirements are met in full. "
