New Citrix ShareFile Cloud aids HIPAA compliance
Citrix ShareFile Cloud for Healthcare, Citrix's virtual private cloud offering for file sharing, is now available to healthcare organizations looking to secure and manage protected health information (PHI) in a cloud environment. Citrix says that ShareFile will enhance PHI security to help these organizations meet the HIPAA Omnibus Rule requirements. The ShareFile Cloud for Healthcare, according to the press release, separates PHI from other data and stores it securely.
In addition to the safe sharing of PHI, ShareFile allows organizations to send large image files like X-rays and CAT scans to other networks, store files and information for specific group access, and eliminate the need for faxes and telephone receipt confirmation, all while helping organizations comply with HIPAA.
"Healthcare organizations need solutions in place that will help them protect confidential information from unintentional exposure and remain in compliance with the latest rules," said Maribel Lopez, Founder, Lopez Research. "Healthcare needs solutions like dedicated virtual private clouds for protected health information."
ShareFile is a data sharing and sync service that was bought by Citrix in 2011 and has offered business associate agreements (BAAs) to healthcare organizations since 2012.
