Google Chrome OS and Thin Clients

Turns out thin clients are on the official hardware list for Chromium from Google.

TROY, MICHIGAN - Wednesday, December 2nd, 2009. The IT sector is buzzing with the recent announcement of the web based operating systems from Google Inc. (GOOG). DisklessWorkstations.com's LTSP Term 1520 - Thin Client is listed on the Official Developer Hardware List for Chromium OS. Chromium OS is the open source derivative of Chrome OS.

"At DisklessWorkstations.com we are enthused with Google's position in the world of open source software. This is clearly a benefit for the open source community, and the software community at large."
- Erick Tyack, CTO, DisklessWorkstations.com

Chrome OS, slated for release 1 year from November 2009, will be Google's updated version of what is currently available to the open source community. Chromium OS brings vast opportunity to the open source market. As the web based operating systems are targeted towards netbooks, Thin Clients organically become a complimentary hardware offering. Thin Clients promote the same user experience as netbooks without limitation in screen size or input devices. Chromium OS and Chrome OS offer users the opportunity to access personal data stored in the cloud from devices using the web based operating systems.
