Creative Android Tablets Going After iPad

New Zio from Creative joins the fray in the iPad-killer battle. Here is 10" touch tablet from Creative powered by Android. Next week we get our first look at the Dell Streak.

Creative ZiiO Android Tablets Going After the iPad

It seems that the entire computing industry is gunning for the iPad and "IPad killers" are coming out of the veritable woodwork to try and overcome the king. One such company looking to take on Apple is Creative Labs with their new Creative ZiiO 10" Android 2.1 powered tablet. On paper, this bigger version of the Creative ZiiO 7" tablet boasts some pretty impressive entertainment features such as pure X-Fi based audio enhancements and Bluetooth. Creative state it can even output HD content to your HDTV. To help store all your data, Creative Labs not only includes 8 or 16GB of internal storage they have also included a built in SDHC card reader for virtually unlimited storage expansion.

The three hitches which potentially stand in the Creative ZiiO 10's bid for IPad killing status are: its less than HD 1024x600 256K TFT resistive screen, lack of 802.11n support (though it does have b & g built in) and no mention of battery life. But the tablet will play most video formats including MKV and H.264 just fine without need for tedious codec conversion. Powered by ZiiLABS ZMS-08 processor, the Creative ZiiO 10" certainly is going to be worth looking at though, as its other features may just make it a better PMP and possibly a decent Android tablet solution to many consumers than the closed system iPad.
