IGEL Universal Desktop Converter software extends life and manageability of old PCs by migrating them to fully manageable IGEL Universal Desktop thin client-like devices
London, UK, October 17th 2012 - Angels were seen breathing life into old PCs at the IGEL Stand of IP Expo in Earls Court London today using the leading thin client manufacturer's Universal Desktop Converter (UDC) software. The Universal Desktop Converter allows organizations to migrate existing PC or old thin client hardware into a fully manageable IGEL Universal Desktop thin client-like device - extending the life of the hardware whilst making it more efficient to run.
"This approach allows businesses to cost effectively extend the life of their current desktops to deliver a Server-Based Computing architecture or to produce a shorter return on investment when migrating to a Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) environment," explained Simon Richards, IGEL UK Managing Director.
"IGEL's UDC software allows IT environments with mixed desktop hardware, such as PCs or thin clients from different manufacturers, to be standardized at low cost and to be efficiently and securely managed over a network, or over the Internet, by means of one interface."
With the cost savings that desktop standardization and standardized remote management brings, customers are able to cushion the impact of costs for centralization or VDI projects. For example, savings of up to 70% compared to PC-based workstations, help to balance out the investment and licensing costs incurred when centralizing and modernizing operations in the data center.
IGEL and its angels will be demonstrating the UDC software each day at 12noon and 2.30pm during the show at Stand D64. There will also be an opportunity for one attendee to win an Apple TV at every demonstration.
IGEL Partners also showing IGEL's software and hardware solutions at the show include: Cetus Solutions at Stand B70 and Ultima Business Solutions on Stand C39.
